Happy holidays from the North Shore of Oahu
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to take a quick moment out of this special day to say thanks and wish y'all a happy holiday and season's greetings. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by my family this weekend. I hope everyone is able to enjoy their holiday in good health and with good company.
I am so fortunate to be able to do what I love doing each and every day. In 2003, I remember driving past Ka'ala Healing Arts in Waialua for the first time. I was on my way to skydive at Dillingham Airfield with my best friend. I thought to myself, what a perfect little place to have a massage clinic. I saw myself working there in vivid detail with my mind's eye.
Amazing to think I have been giving massage here at Ka'ala Healing Arts now for well over ten years. What a blessing to have been able to manifest my dreams! Thank you all for making it possible!
Aloha,
Sonia Beauchamp

Haleiwa Massage Muse: Four Simple SEO Tips for Your Website or Blog
So my Haleiwa Massage Muse Tip of the Day is something completely different from my usual health related post. Today, I am going to talk about creating great content for your website! As some of you know, I recently changed my domain name after ten years of using Vistaprint's dismal website package. Vistaprint?! Yes, I know! I actually fell for their service on a whim when purchasing business cards. It was one of the most unfortunate mistakes I ever made regarding marketing. I was stuck with a domain name and website that I could not easily port over to another provider without serious loss of SEO. After ten years of shelling out $20-30 a month to Vistaprint, I finally bit the bullet and started building a new website with brand new content from scratch. Once my new site outperformed my old site, I purchased my old domain from Vistaprint and parked it with a custom redirect. Now, my website costs next to nothing! My first tip: Be careful who you choose to host your domain. Do your research first! Make sure you own your domain name and can easily transport its content anywhere you like.
I am a complete newbie, so I am somewhat self-conscious about giving advice when it comes to internet marketing and social media. However, I have learned a few things that I want to share, so here goes nothing!
Four Simple Tips to Boost SEO on Your Website and Blog
- Don't worry about perfection
- Meet your publishing goals
- Use your keywords and phrases
Think of all the phrases your customers might use to find you and incorporate those into your site and posts. Use different variations of those phrases in every paragraph without sounding too repetitive. Keep re-reading your posts to find missed opportunities to add in those keywords. Make a list of all your phrases so you don't forget them!
- Expand your topics
Logically, it makes sense to start writing articles that strengthen the search terms not showing up for your business. For example, I teach infant massage classes on the North Shore of Oahu, and my classes were not showing up on Google. I wrote a short article on infant massage that included a cute picture with my business info. I posted that picture, along with a link to the article on several social media sites, and within a month- I started showing up in searches.
What happens when you run out of ideas for your articles? You won't... because you don't have to limit yourself just to posting about things related to your business. That's the beauty of a blog! You can write about anything you like as long as you keep in mind how it will reflect on your business image. Think about things that people may be searching for on Google. Community events, uplifting local news, self-help tips, inspirational quotes, recipes, the list is never-ending! It helps to always include a shareable picture or graphic on each article. This way, you can share this photo to social media posts, and it will link directly back to your website. (Stay tuned for more about social media in my next article!)

Tip of the day
Haleiwa Massage Muse Tip of the Day: Hamstring Stretching
I suffer from chronically tight hamstrings. If you are anything like me, you cringe at the thought of doing a Downward Facing Dog in public. Take a few minutes everyday to bring your awareness to this muscle group by doing some static stretching, dynamic movements, or yoga. Make sure to follow these six simple tips for safe and effective hamstring stretching.
6 Tips for Flexible Hamstings
- Use a combination of static stretches and dynamic movement. Try not to rely solely on stretches that are sustained for too long a period of time. Try following static stretching routines with range of motion activities.
- Do not lock your knees when performing a stretch. Keeping a straight leg does not involve locking your knees. Try to be mindful if you have a habit of this.
- You can always use your surroundings for assistance. For example, use a doorway, wall, rope, or band to provide resistance for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. This will help increase your range of motion.
- If you have difficultly stretching your hamstrings, you can always bend your knee slightly. As flexibility increases, you can begin to straighten your leg more and more.
- You should never force a stretch. It does not make your efforts any more effective and can actually cause harm.
- Remember to relax and enjoy the sensation of stretching. Breathe deeply and remember that you are taking the time to stretch your body because it feels good!
There are so many resources for safe stretching available on the internet. Take you time to find a method that you enjoy doing. This will motivate you to make stretching part of a daily routine.
Massage is also a great way to take care of your hamstrings. If you are on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, give us a call to book a massage therapy session. Our massage clinic is in Waialua near Haleiwa and we specialize in deep tissue massage. Receiving massage is a great way to increase your body awareness which will help you live a more active lifestyle.
Thank you so much for reading my Haleiwa Massage Muse Tip of the Day.
Take care of your body, get a massage, and feel better. You deserve it!
Love,
Sonia Beauchamp
