The Benefits of Kukui Nut Oil

The Hawaiian Secret to Radiant Skin

Kukui nut oil massage is available in Waialua

Kukui nut oil is extracted from the candlenut of the Aleurites Moluccanus tree. Well-known in Hawaii and the islands of Polynesia, it has been used for centuries in religious ceremonies and as a topical skincare product. This product is known for its healing, medicinal benefits.

Kukui nut oil contains 40% linoleic acid, 15% oleic acid, and 30% linolenic acid. Due to its high concentration of naturally occurring essential fatty acids, it is the perfect addition to your beauty regiment. Kukui nut oil soothes dry skin and can also be used as a protective barrier against harsh environmental conditions. Many people use it for psoriasis and other skin conditions. In a medical setting, kukui nut oil has been studied for its anti-inflammatory effects and its ability to promote wound recovery.

Here at our Waialua massage clinic, nestled by the surf town of Haleiwa, we offer a wide variety of massage services. To soothe and prevent dry skin, try our luxurious kukui nut oil massage add-on. Our blend of essential oils will help calm your mind, body, and spirit while soothing skin irritation. If you have spent a week in the fun and sun of the North Shore of Oahu, it is just what your skin needs.

After your Waialua massage appointment, shop for the best beauty products that Hawaii has to offer in the nearby town of Haleiwa. From fragrant soaps at the Soap Factory by the Waialua sugar mill to Oils of Aloha products at the North Shore Marketplace, you'll find many local products for healthy skin.

Hassle-free Tips

Most stores will ship their products directly from Haleiwa to your friends and family on the mainland. Save room in your luggage by asking for this service! You can also visit one of the two convenient US post office locations nearby. I prefer the one in Waialua, next to the Waialua Public Library. It is usually less busy and has more parking available than Haleiwa.

While most people drive from Honolulu to the North Shore to explore the beaches and shopping of Haleiwa, you should also check out the nearby town of Waialua. Minutes away, it is appealing for travelers who prefer to avoid crowds. On Saturday mornings, enjoy the quaint farmers market at the Waialua sugar mill. You will find local Waialua farmers selling all kinds of tropical fruits and veggies. There are also amazing food trucks as well. My personal favorite is Banyan's Island Grill.

For a more rugged and isolated beach excursion, continue to the end of Farrington Highway in Mokuleia. Here, you will find pristine beaches with far fewer tourists than Haleiwa. While you shouldn't completely pass on the famous beaches of the North Shore, such as Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach, you will find the same honu and humuhumunukunukuapua'a here in Waialua.

Call our Waialua massage clinic near Haleiwa to book your kukui nut oil massage today. We offer traditional lomilomi Hawaiian massage, deep tissue, and ashiatsu therapy with over 20 years of experience.

Aloha,

Hawaiian Shrimp Truck Garlic Scampi Recipe

Bring the delicious garlicky shrimpy taste of Hawaii to your kitchen!

Here on the North Shore of Oahu, we have one of the best food truck lots in the world! When the famous Giovanni's Shrimp Truck opened a second location in Haleiwa, we were ecstatic.

However, for those times when you roll up only to find the parking lot roped off due to high occupancy, it is nice to have options! With this shrimp scampi recipe, you can enjoy the garlicky goodness of your favorite Hawaiian shrimp truck without even leaving your kitchen. Impress your friends with this authentic recipe!

Hawaiian Shrimp Truck Garlic Scampi

Serves 2-3, estimated cook/prep time: 20-25 min.

Ingredients

1 lb. shrimp (headless, shell-on, tail-on, deveined)
*time saving tip: use frozen, peeled, tail-on shrimp
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/8 - 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper to taste
2 oz. butter
1 1/2 tbsp. olive oil
1 bulb fresh minced garlic
2 tbsp. white wine
1/4 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. fish sauce (very important)
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
garnish with lemon wedges
serve with your favorite chili pepper condiment
(tabasco, chili pepper paste, chili pepper flakes, etc.)

 Directions

Toss shrimp in flour/cayenne pepper mixture to coat.
Melt butter in a pan.
Add olive oil after butter melts.
Lightly saute the garlic until aromatic.
Add shrimp mixture and begin to saute.
Mix white wine, sugar, and fish sauce before adding to the pan.
Stir until cooked through.
Add black pepper and mix evenly.
Serve immediately with a lemon wedge, chili sauce, and white rice.

Tips

This recipe is a favorite of people of all ages. My daughter enjoyed it as a baby! When serving this to children, consider using pre-peeled shrimp and eliminating the cayenne and black pepper. The most important tip to make the best Hawaiian shrimp truck scampi is to use at least an entire bulb of garlic and make sure not to omit the fish sauce! This recipe can be easily doubled, tripled, quadrupled, cooked in batches, and reheated for large groups of people. Enjoy =)

For added authenticity, use premium quality shrimp.

The flour mixture helps the garlic sauce adhere to the shrimp.

DO NOT skimp on the garlic!

I hope you enjoy serving my favorite Hawaiian shrimp scampi recipe to your ohana! Please let me know how you like it. Leave a comment on social media. I'd love to hear from you! Call me to schedule your North Shore massage appointment. For the time being under Tier 1, I can only provide massage at your outdoor location. I look forward to working with you soon.

Sincerely,
