North Shore Couples Massage

There are not many places to schedule a couple's massage session on the North Shore of Oahu. Most people go to Spa Nalu at Turtle Bay Resort, but here in Waialua, we offer another option. Our small massage therapy clinic is a great alternative to a busy resort and spa for your North Shore massage session. We offer many different options including, deep tissue massage, Swedish, and Hawaiian lomilomi. 

North Shore Ashiatsu Massage

Here at our North Shore Oahu Massage clinic in Waialua, we also offer Ashiatsu barefoot massage therapy. This session uses overhead bars that help your massage therapist use their full body weight as they stand on the massage table. The use of massage oil helps their feet to glide over their client's muscles and deliver a firm, broad amount of pressure. What to Look for in a Pregnancy Massage Therapist

There are many things to consider when getting a pregnancy massage. While the strokes can be similar to any typical massage therapy session, your therapist should be well-versed in pregnancy-related musculoskeletal conditions. It is always important that your massage therapist also is trained and certified in prenatal massage therapy.

Why is pregnancy massage certification important?

The biggest concern with pregnancy massage is that your therapist is knowledgeable of contraindications for massage. These are atypical circumstances where massage may be harmful to the health and well-being of the mother or baby. Although this situation is rare,  there are a few circumstances where massage should be avoided. If you have any irregular medical or pregnancy-related conditions, always make sure to discuss them before your massage session with your obstetrician and massage therapist. 

Prenatal massage certification is also important because it indicates that your therapist has been trained to best address the specific issues that pregnancy has on the body. For your comfort, your massage therapist should be trained on the proper positioning and bolstering throughout all three trimesters of pregnancy.

What type of pregnancy massage cushions are best?

While there are special massage cushions that enable pregnant women to receive massage in the prone (face-down) position, not every woman is comfortable laying this way. The best and most comfortable way to receive a pregnancy massage is not face-down, but in a side-lying position. This ensures adequate blood flow and circulation at all times. Not every body type is comfortable in a one-size fits all type of body cushion. While it may be tempting to try to lay face-down, it is often uncomfortable and places excess strain on the uterine ligaments.

When is the best time to learn newborn massage?

At Integrated Massage and Deep Tissue Therapy, we also teach newborn and infant massage to new parents and caregivers of infants. The best time to learn infant massage is not after your child has been born but beforehand. We encourage expecting parents to sign up for a private infant massage lesson before their expected due date. Because massage helps babies develop and grow, it is best to already have training before dealing with the stresses of parenthood. Sonia is a certified infant and newborn massage therapy instructor.

Couples Massage and Group Appointments

Couples Massage is always an option at our Waialua massage clinic just outside of Haleiwa. Integrated Massage can easily accommodate two massage tables, placed side-by-side, for your special occasion.

Couples Massage: $240

Group Appointments available: in conjunction with the other businesses at the center

A side-by-side couples massage with your friend or loved one. Often, people book couples massage to celebrate a special occasion, anniversary, or birthday. It is also a great way to reconnect with your partner and commit to a healthy lifestyle together. Many times, there is one person in a relationship who doesn't have much experience with receiving bodywork. They may be reluctant to try something new. Booking a couples massage is a great way to introduce a newcomer to massage therapy. 

We also accommodate small groups at our location at Ka'ala Healing Arts near Haleiwa in Waialua. We have four+ licensed massage therapists on staff in the center and can arrange for your appointments to be scheduled at the same time. There are also options for skincare, lash services, acupuncture, colon hydrotherapy, and wellness counseling, in addition to massage. Please keep in mind, that we cannot accommodate large groups without sufficient notice of a week or two. 

What kinds of massage are available when booking a couples massage appointment?

The answer to this question depends on the therapists that are available to perform your massages. Usually, we can accommodate any combination of Deep Tissue, Swedish, and Hawaiian Lomilomi. We do not offer Ashiatsu couples treatments because the placement of the tables does not align with the overhead bars on our ceiling. We also do not offer a hot stone massage upgrade with couples services because the two therapists must time their massage techniques to ensure absolute perfection.

How far in advance do we need to schedule our appointments?

Ideally, you should call a few weeks ahead of time to schedule your North Shore couple's massage to ensure that you get in at your preferred date and time. Of course, our clients are always welcome to call anytime, and we try our best to help with last minute requests. Keep in mind, that we have the best therapists in Waialua and Haleiwa on-call for couple's massage, so it is more than likely that they are already booked if you wait too late to schedule. 

How do I book a North Shore couple's massage?

It is easiest if you work through us in order to schedule your appointments with multiple providers. We are more than happy to contact the other practitioners and get them in touch with you, if necessary. We will also do the legwork to accommodate your small group at your preferred date and time.
